Social networks have become very important in today's society as a venue to contact or communicate with large groups of people at one time. This becomes important in the athletics field because fans can communicate with their favorite organizations or players and vice versa. Organizations can use microblogging to advertise products and expose their brand to not only the fans that follow them but also the followers of their fans. This year I went to the BCS National Championship game and noticed in the media section that everyone covering the game was on Twitter tweeting or Facebook posting updates about the game. Microblogging would also be a great tool to use for education as well. Teachers would be able to use the different social networking platforms to contact several groups of students at one time while allowing students to comment and ask questions. The technological era that we live in today is set up to make things work faster and more conveniently for everyone, and microblogging for athletics and education is a way to get information out with convenience and speed.
