Both of these social networks would be beneficial towards the professional development of an individual or organization, but there are some characteristics of the two that clearly define their differences. LinkedIn offers professionals an opportunity to display their work experience and abilities within the network and it matches your experiences with different corporations that could use their skills. Facebook allows people to connect and communicate with different groups or people, but it does not made to solely display your professional skills or allow others you have connected with to endorse your skills. LinkedIn is a great account that any professional would want to add to their PLN to showcase their professional attributes to different organizations to connect and network.
I also believe that Linkedin is a better social media website to be used as a professional tool. LinkedIn allows individuals to connect with others on more of a professional basis. It also allows individuals to connect with future employers and showcase their online resume to them as well. Both Facebook and Linkedin should be used with caution because future employers will look at both for positive and negative attributes. Personally, I use Facebook to connect with old friends and family and LinkedIn to connect with professionals in my field.
