While completing my undergraduate work, all my professors would warn students to avoid using any Wikipedia information as sources for a paper. Wikis allow different people to edit and add information that was posted. This has its pros and cons. With Wikipedia being used as an encyclopedia, anyone could change the information that was added to include false and incorrect information. Wikis would be a very useful tool for education because of their quick access and the ability to make collaborative changes from different users. In teaching this would be a great tool for teachers who have to constantly add and change grades or information for students or even make changes for information that is sent out to their peers. In the sport administration field there is always new legislation that is presented or amended to meet the needs of the organization. Wikis would be a good way to get new information out quickly while allowing only access to certain administrators. This would help to keep the correct, useful information protected while changes can be made instantly when they occur.
