Generation AO refers to "always-on" a term that was derived by the technological turn of society. "They have grown up in a world that has come to offer them instant access to nearly the entirety of human knowledge, and incredible opportunities to connect, create, and collaborate." (Anderson, 2012). With so much information and opportunities available at the push of a button, this should become be a great tool for teaching and education, but some believe that Generation AO could bring some negative attributes towards the learning tendencies of students. "...respondents in this study predict that Gen AO will exhibit a thirst for instant gratification and quick fixes and a lack of patience and deep-thinking ability due to what one referred to as 'fast-twitch wiring'." (Anderson, 2012). I think Generation AO will be exposed to incredible opportunities in education to incorporate in more efficient ways to increase learning, but this will also come with some negative effects. We as educators need to stay on top of the new innovations that are created during the upbringing of Generation AO in order to find ways to decrease some of the negative effects that are associated with this new type of learning. We should also find ways to incorporate some of the "old" ways of learning to stabilize our dependency on technology. If something were to happen and the technology we depend on is no longer available we would still need to function as a society, but if we do not learn alternate ways to function it'll be detrimental to our well-being as a whole.
